This painting shows the way I represent the Catrina. The Catrina is a symbol for death in Mexican culture and is traditionally illustrated as a caricature with vibrant colors, a flower filled hat and a dress. I decided to paint the Catrina the way I perceive death while still including the traditional Day of the Dead marigold (cempasúchil) flowers.
